….. Compulsive & How!!

Compulsions are such a pain sometimes. How they put you in sticky situations and make you bite your tongue!
So…....... In my world, grammar is not as deathly important as use of correct words in a sentence. And believe you me, it makes me go all itchy till I have it pointed out. Not that I do not make mistakes, but I have to correct others when they do, you see. :P
For instance, one of my friends (my Mrs. Malaprop for the day) furiously whatsapped me last week telling me about some fight she and her boyfriend had had –
Friend: “We are on the urge of a break-up”.
(in my head – urge? Ah, you mean verge….. no Lavie…take a long breath and be nice… she doesn’t need a lesson in English right now)
Hence, Me: “Why? What happened?”
Friend: “Would you believe…. He actually did…blah blah blah.”
(still taking those long annoying breaths, trying so hard to not correct but…….)
Me: “Oh come on, that is not reason enough to be on the verge of a break up!! Relax girl…”
(Mu-ha-ha-ha-ha now………..& PHEW!!!)
Well, well, well! Coming to think of compulsions, I have so very many, you know! From following the same routine every single morning (I brush the exact same way every given day, have the same set of things done in the precise timeframe too), to making sure I never wear all black for important exams/tests/interviews (I wear blue or pink generally – a friend of mine instilled the fear of the dark in me), I even completely abstain from starting my work week wearing Salwar-kurtas (Crisp suits, or white shirts are generally reserved to mark the beginning of my power-packed week…. Psst… it doesn’t always work :P), and no matter how early my day may begin, I can never step out without a shower, not even if I am goin to be back home in half an hour. Compulsion!!!
I don’t feel that stupid though, courtesy my weirder friends. Now some of their compulsions are bizarre!
Don't believe me? Hear these out......
One of them has the number of shirts in his wardrobe counted, and as soon as a new one comes in, an old one is given away in order to keep the numbers intact; he also has million other compulsions like keeping his branded luxuries back in their original boxes every day, keeping the music in his car running on an even numbered volume (2,4,6…) and so on...
Another washes his hands at least 15-20 times a day, which is not so bad. Funny however, is that he eats peanuts/cashews/any nuts only as much to total them to a 3, 5, 10 or subsequent multiples of 5.
Yet another cartoon prays and asks for a wish at every small, big, even demolished temples, mosques, churches, gurudhwaras, and/or any other religious place that may be.
One more has to compulsorily change her BBM picture every morning once she is awake, and she absolutely must start her day with coffee.
We all have such funny & most times secret traits, no? …. And we always thought there’s only shopping, folding clothes in straight lines, and lying that could be part of OCD**!
What’s your compulsion then? The little secret ritual you follow and yet seldom talk about? J

**OCD is an anxiety disorder, and is pretty severe in nature. Most humans with above-average intelligence, and those that are generally particular about things have a few "compulsions". They must not be regarded as individuals suffering from Obsessive Compulsive personality Disorder.

….Wrapped in Box, Complete with a Bow :)

A Precious little carriage announcing the birth of a princess; telling your Super-Dad just how awesome he is; expressing love on your darling friend’s birthday by gifting her shoe&bag-shaped chocolates. What a lovely thought, right?
Be it Diwali Hampers, Christmas goodies, or presents for any other occasion, Namrata’s Gifts Tell All will add that extra special touch and have your heart completely besotted.
Well, at least my joy knew no bounds when my only instruction to Namu was that I wanted a chocolate hamper for a friend who made me a fabulous shoe and is very fond of bags, and Namu actually created for my friend the most gorgeous gift ever. I literally looked like that smitten, greedy child who wants to keep back the gift meant for her best friend… :P
But the wrapping goes a level beyond. She also must take all due credit for making some abs.so.lutely lip-smacking chocolates. Almond Rocks, Chocolate Biscuits, Orange Chocolates – name it and Namrata makes them as delightful as they can possibly get.
She does decors for places, dresses up your champagne bottles, and makes life so very happy!
Want to take a look?

I think a brilliant wrapping over & above a splendid gift is like receiving a double bonus. No one can deny the happiness it gives. It also is a language that speaks volumes about your feelings. What better way than Namrata’s lovely ideas for your very special one? J

…. I am where I live!!

If that quote was anywhere close to being true, I would be a “cow”… (those who know where I live will know what I’m talking about :P)… My twist to this line is “I am who aspires to live at/in ____”… What would you fill the blank with?
Talking about places one lives in, I have a rather talented friend who builds the loveliest of spaces. Ever since I thought that this month’s theme should be all about my rather precious (and oh-so-annoying) FRIENDS – who they are, what they create, their talents (or the lack of them), or anything else that comes to their mind – I was absolutely sure that Rishita (Boney for the rest of us) would feature in my personal “Hall of Fame”.
Rishita has been my most irritating neighbor, crack-head student, craziest best friend, and my favourite object to torture from times when Tulsi and Mihir scorched screens (do they have embarrassed smiley’s here???). Here’s a snap shot of this polishwali bai turned polished businesswoman!
RISHITA:
Rishita is an Interior Designing Graduate from Rachana Sansad School of Design, Mumbai. She worked with a couple of Architects/ Interior Designers (vaguely remember SM, was it?), and then realized how creativity couldn’t breathe when one told you what had to be done and how. She took a huge risk, got together with another uber talented girl, Rushda, and started Design Office. Both of them came together due to their mutual love for design and undeterred enthusiasm for life! Rishita & Rushda have practised Interior Design for the past 4 years , both individually and otherwise , worked on a wide range of residential , commercial and hospitality projects.
Here’s a sneak peek into the charming worlds they create!!
